How does using my HSA/FSA save me money?

HSA/FSA accounts were created so individuals could use pre-tax money to pay for expenses used to treat, mitigate, or prevent a diagnosed medical condition.

Because HSA/FSAs use pre-tax money, you're getting more purchasing power for your dollars. Rather than pay taxes on income and then spend it on health items, qualified customers can use pre-tax funds to invest in root cause interventions.

Who is Truemed?

At Truemed, we believe that investing in your health is far more valuable than waiting to spend on sickness. By unlocking pre-tax HSA/FSA spend on research backed interventions such as fitness, supplements, and health technology, we're shifting healthcare spend toward true medicine.

Common Questions

How does using my HSA/FSA account save me money?
HSA/FSA accounts use pre-tax dollars, which means qualified customers save an average of 30% by avoiding income tax on eligible health purchases. Instead of earning $100, paying ~$30 in taxes, and having $70 to spend, you get the full $100 of purchasing power.
What are FSA and HSA accounts?
HSAs (Health Savings Accounts) and FSAs (Flexible Spending Accounts) are tax-advantaged accounts that let you set aside money before taxes for qualified medical expenses. HSAs are typically paired with high-deductible health plans and roll over year to year. FSAs are offered through employers and usually need to be used within the plan year.
Can I use my HSA/FSA at SculptHer?
Yes — qualified customers can use HSA/FSA funds on eligible SculptHer products through Truemed. After completing a brief health survey, a licensed provider will determine your eligibility and issue a Letter of Medical Necessity if approved.
Can I use my regular credit card at checkout?
Yes. You can pay with a regular credit card and submit your Letter of Medical Necessity along with your receipt to your HSA/FSA administrator for reimbursement. Reimbursements are typically paid within 2–4 weeks.
What is a Letter of Medical Necessity, and how is this compliant?
A Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is a document from a licensed provider explaining why a product is medically necessary for your health. Truemed's licensed providers issue LMNs after reviewing your health survey responses, in accordance with IRS guidelines for HSA/FSA eligibility.
Are there fees associated with using Truemed's services?
No. Truemed does not charge customers a fee. The eligibility check and Letter of Medical Necessity are free for qualified customers.
When should I use my FSA/HSA dollars?
FSA dollars typically need to be used by the end of your plan year (often December 31), as unused funds may be forfeited. HSA dollars roll over indefinitely and can even be invested. Many customers use SculptHer purchases as a way to put FSA funds toward meaningful wellness investments before the year ends.
How long does it take for me to receive my Letter of Medical Necessity?
Most customers receive their LMN within minutes of completing the health survey. Some cases may take up to 24 hours for a licensed provider to review.
I don't have an HSA/FSA. Can I still benefit from Truemed?
Without an HSA or FSA you cannot access the pre-tax savings, but you can still purchase SculptHer products with a regular credit card. If your employer offers an FSA during open enrollment, that's the easiest way to start.
I don't live in the US. Can I still get reimbursed with Truemed?
HSA and FSA accounts are US-specific tax-advantaged accounts, so Truemed currently only supports customers based in the United States.
